Constellations Festival

I’ve decided I’m going to make a concerted effort to share some of the more fabulous things I come across on the internet, starting with Gold Panda’s new EP. Lush.

Cheatahs is the project of Nathan Ernest Hewitt from Canada, once solo, now a budding four piece from London. Having played his debut show with WAVVES only a year or so ago and releases a limited edition 7″ on Young and Lost Club as well as an EP cassette on Paradise Vendors Inc. Nathan has recruited James Wignal on guitar Craig Bowers (also Weird Dreams and Sleep all Day Records) on drums and Conan Roberts (also Mazes). Since then, Cheatahs have played shows with bands such as Ariel Pink, Crocodiles, Best Coast.

With its sleepy, minor chord synths and innate sense of longing for what could have been, Saint Lou Lou’s debut single feels like the perfect end-of-summer song. In fact, the disparity between the seasons and climates infuses everything about the music made by twins Elektra and Miranda Kilbey, the pair splitting their time between the crisp winters of Sweden and the balmy summers of Australia.

Apologies, final announcements and a bit of news…

So, sorry for being so quiet of late but we’re back with the final announcements for 2013 and some other news about this year’s festival.

Firstly it is with regret that we announce that Constellations will to no longer be taking pace at Leeds Metropolitan University. The inconvenient  truth is that we were finding it almost impossible to do the festival justice at a venue as large as the Leeds Met University, the guys at the venue have been great, just isn’t meant to be. The good news it that we’re decamping to The Brudenell Social Club  for 2012, yey!

The vast majority of the original line-up remain in place and we’re pleased to announce that Ariel Pink, Kindness, HaimHooded Fang and Swimming Lessons will be joined by Pale Seas, Saint Lou Lou, PAWS and Cheatahs. Original tickets are still valid for the new venue but please note doors will now be opening at 13:00.

So, goodbye to the Met Uni, we hardly knew thee but awesome new venue and new new bands to boot, easy come, easy go. We’ll be posting full stage times up very soon xoxo

Pale Seas craft beautifully refined songs with elegant harmonies. Like a night fire whilst it rains outside, there’s a richness and subtle grandeur to their sound. The scintillating guitars and melancholic vocals contain a certain sparkle and charm, taking you deeper into their enchanting world with each and every listen. Vibez.

PAWS have just released their awesome debut album Cokefloat on Fatcat records after a string of self released singles and EPs. It’s a blur of lo-fi, buzzing, guitar riffs and cathartic song-writing and is crazy good. They’re also pretty powerful live. Can’t wait.

Unfortunately, due to the venue change Hookworms will no longer be playing at this years festival :( You can still enjoy their video for Form And Function by Jonathan Wilkinson though :)

So after what feels like ages we’re pleased to announce that Constellations will be returning to Leeds this November 10th.Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Kindness, Haim and Hooded Fang will join a host of local acts headed up by the amazin
